Implementing provus discrepancy model in reconstructing science learning planning course

Abstract


The effectiveness of a course needs to be evaluated to determine whether the course is relevant to the graduate profile. The development of science and technology makes it necessary for a course to be reconstructed . This study aims to reconstruct the science learning planning course using the Provus model based on the gap theory with four stages, namely design, installation, process, and product. The research method used is an evaluative method. Data collection was carried out by interview, observation, and documentation. Data sources in this study include the actions or words of the lecturers of science learning planning course, heads of study programs, RPS, SN-DIKTI standard documents, and descriptions of the science learning process. The standard process in lectures has been implemented; however, there are several gaps that have occurred. First, there is a mismatch in the implementation of learning, particularly in the aspect of alignment between the learning process and research and community service activities. Second, there is a gap in the variable of student study load, namely the absence of alignment in credit units within the cluster of courses related to science learning planning.
