Analisis Metode User Education Di Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi

Abstract

User education is one of the important programs to be implemented in a college library. Libraries need to ensure that users can use and access all types of services properly and correctly so that their utilization can be maximized. Thus, libraries need to implement effective methods for delivering user education material so that users can make the most of the facilities and services possible. This study aims to determine which methods are considered to be the most effective in implementing user education. The method used in this study is quantitative with descriptive analysis carried out by distributing questionnaires to students of the Library and Information Science study program at the University of Education of Indonesia (UPI) class of 2017. In order for user education to be conveyed properly, the library needs to determine what methods are used effective to distributing the user education material. The results obtained based on the survey that had been carried out were that the user education method that was considered the most effective for use in college libraries was the library tour method.; 

User education merupakan salah satu program yang penting untuk dilaksanakan di sebuah perpustakaan perguruan tinggi. Hal ini dikarenakan perpustakaan perlu memastikan jika pemustaka dapat menggunakan dan mengakses segala jenis layanan yang ada di perpustakaan dengan baik dan benar sehingga pemanfaatannya dapat lebih maksimal. Dengan demikian maka perpustakaan perlu melaksanakan metode yang efektif untuk penyampaian materi user education sehingga pemustaka dapat memanfaatkan fasilitas dan juga layanan semaksimal mungkin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui metode-metode apa saja yang dinilai paling efektif dalam pelaksanaan user education. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan analisis deskriptif yang dilakukan dengan pembagian kuisioner pada mahasiswa program studi Perpustakaan dan Sains Informasi Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) angkatan 2017. Agar user education dapat tersampaikan dengan baik, maka perpustakaan perlu untuk menentukan metode apa saja yang efektif sebagai sarana penyebaran materi user education tersebut. Hasil yang diperoleh berdasarkan survey yang telah dilaksanakan adalah bahwa metode user education yang dinilai paling efektif untuk digunakan di perpustakaan perguruan tinggi adalah metode library tour atau wisata perpustakaan.
