Publication Ethic
BISNIS: Journal of Islamic Business and Management is a national peer-reviewed journal published biannually in both print and online formats by the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kudus. This statement outlines the ethical standards for all parties involved in the publication of articles in BISNIS, including authors, editorial board members, peer reviewers, and the publisher.
Publication Ethics
The publication of articles in BISNIS constitutes an essential component in the development of a coherent and respected body of knowledge. It directly reflects the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles uphold and embody the scientific method. Therefore, it is crucial to agree upon ethical standards of conduct expected from all parties involved in the publication process, namely: authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and the academic community.
The Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kudus, as the publisher of BISNIS, is responsible for overseeing all stages of the publication process with integrity and accountability. The institution is committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenues do not influence editorial decisions. It also supports communication with other journals and publishers when deemed necessary.
Editor Responsibilities
Publication Decisions
The editors of BISNIS are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts that fit the journal’s scope should be published. The validation of the work and its significance to researchers and readers must always guide such decisions. Editors may be guided by the policies of the editorial board and are constrained by legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors may consult with other editors or reviewers in making these decisions.
Fair Play
Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, or citizenship of the authors.
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisors, and the publisher.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the author’s explicit written consent.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and, through editorial communication with authors, may also help authors improve their manuscripts.
Promptness
Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that a timely review will not be possible should notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shared or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.
Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported should be accompanied by appropriate citation. Reviewers should also inform the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published works.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors, companies, or institutions involved.
Author Responsibilities
Reporting Standards
Authors must present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately. The manuscript should contain sufficient detail and references to allow others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and properly cite or quote the work and/or words of others.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently is unethical and unacceptable.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.
Authorship of the Manuscript
Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project should be acknowledged as contributors. The corresponding author must ensure that all appropriate co-authors are included, that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript, and have agreed to its submission for publication.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of their work. All sources of financial support should be disclosed.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
