The Intuitive Dimension of the Spiritual Rehabilitation of Tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah Followers in Pagutan, Mataram
Abstract
The intuitive dimension plays a vital role in the spiritual rehabilitation of followers of the Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah (TQN) Sufi order in Lombok, particularly those affiliated with the Darul Falah Islamic Boarding School in Pagutan, Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara. This article aims to explore how the intuitive dimension contributes to spiritual transformation through the practices of zikir and regular religious sermons held every Sunday and Tuesday. The study employs a qualitative ethnographic approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with four tarekat members, as well as through observation and documentation. The findings reveal that intuitive experiences, such as emotional stability, inner peace, and a deepening sense of religious meaning are key aspects of personal transformation. These experiences often arise during zikir or while listening to sermons delivered by the mursyid, leading to greater inner calm, enhanced reflective awareness, and the cultivation of discipline and consistency in worship and other religious practices. The intuitive dimension has been shown to significantly contribute to the internalization of Sufi values and spiritual transformation. This article offers a contribution to the study of Islamic spirituality by presenting a localized understanding of the role of intuition in contemporary tarekat practice.
