Mahabbah in Sufism as the Foundation of Humanity and Faith to Realize Muslim Social Resilience
Abstract
Humanity is a complex issue in life due to the problem of positioning the relationship between social values and faith. This qualitative study, with a literature review, examines how social resilience is strengthened by both social values and faith, and how mahabbah integrates these two. The results show that mahabbah plays a foundational role in uniting the dimensions of humanity and faith; Divine love encourages Muslims to demonstrate empathy, justice, and respect for human dignity in social interactions. Humanity is an outward expression of authentic faith, and social resilience is solidified when these spiritual values are embodied in inclusive, compassionate, and mutually reinforcing social relationships. This study underscores the relevance of the mahabbah as a spiritual framework for maintaining harmony and social resilience in the current global context. Through the internalization of mahabbah, religion is seen as a bridge of brotherhood that transcends differences to realize universal human dignity.
