Abstract

Understanding the environment is an important aspect among elementary school students that should be developed through effective learning using appropriate media, such as the Augmented Reality (AR) that integrates video and information. This study examined the effect of using augmented reality on students' environmental understanding and the improvement in their conceptual comprehension. In this quasi-experimental study, a one-group pretest-posttest framework was employed to assess the level of student understanding. The data of this study were analyzed on SPSS, which results indicated a significant increase in students' conceptual understanding of environmental topics following the implementation of augmented reality. The direct visualization experiences provided in the media allowed elementary school students to enhance their understanding of real-world environmental conditions and awareness of both the impacts and potentials of their surrounding environment.
