Author Guidelines

Manuscript Structure

All manuscripts submitted to Riwayah: Jurnal Studi Hadis must follow the structure below:

Title

• The title must be specific, informative, and concise, with a maximum of 14 words for English articles.
• It should reflect the core topic or focus of the research, includes formal and/or material objects.

Author Identity

• Includes full author name(s), institutional affiliation(s), and email address(es).
• The author affiliation should include the institution, city, and country.
• The corresponding author should be clearly indicated.
• All of author identities must be provided only in the OJS of Riwayah: Jurnal Studi Hadis. Writing author identities within the manuscript file is not permitted.

Abstract

• Written in English/Arabic and Indonesian, presented in one paragraph (approximately half a page, single-spaced).
• The abstract must summarize the objective, methodology, findings, and significance of the research.

Keywords

• At least three up to five keywords that reflect the main concepts of the article.
• Written in English/Arabic and Indonesian and separated by comma (,), and arranged alphabetically.

Introduction

• Describes the background, research gap, and academic urgency of the topic.
• Explains the research objectives and the contribution to the field of Hadith studies.

Discussion

• Contains a detailed analysis of the research problem, organized into many relevant sub-sections (subtitles).
• May include textual, theoretical, or contextual discussion based on the subject matter.

Conclusion

• Presents summative insights and answers to the research questions, along with implications or recommendations.

References

• Contains all sources cited in the text, arranged alphabetically following APA Style 7th Edition.

Manuscript Format

1. All submissions must strictly follow the official Riwayah journal template. Manuscripts that do not align with the specified formatting and author guidelines will be returned to the author for revision before the review process begins.
2. The manuscript should be approximately 5,000–7,000 characters in length, excluding references.
3. The manuscript should employ academic English or Arabic (or may be translated into English prior to publication).
4. Foreign terms not yet absorbed in English or Arabic must be italicized.
5. Arabic-origin terms should be written in italics and accompanied by Arabic–Latin transliteration (according to Riwayah transliteration standards).

Citation and Reference Style

Riwayah : Jurnal Studi Hadis adopts APA Style 7th Edition for both in-text citations and the reference list. It is strongly recommended to use a reference manager such as Zotero or Mendeley. Examples:

1. Single author:

In one developmental study (Smith, 1990, p. 81), children learned...
or: In the study by Smith (1990), primary school children...

2. Multiple authors:

First citation: Masserton, Slonoowski, and Slowinski (1989) state that...
Subsequent citation: Masserton et al. (1989) state that...

3. Source without author name:

The brochure argued for homeschooling (Education Reform, 2007).

Reference List Examples

References should include the author’s name (reversed), year, title, and publication information.

1. Book:

Baidan, N. (2003). The Development of Tafsir al-Qur'an in Indonesia. Tiga Serangkai.

2. Edited Book Chapter:

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word (Doc. or Rtf.) document file format.
3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
4. The text is 1,15 spaced; uses a 12-point font of Minion Pro; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
