PALASTREN: Journal of Gender Studies

PALASTREN: Journal of Gender Studies (P-ISSN: 1979-6056; E-ISSN: 2477-5215) is a journal published by the Center for Gender and Child Studies (PSGA), State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Kudus, and published every six months in June and December. Palastren has been accredited with rank two of Sinta by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education through Decree of the Director General of Strengthening Research and Development of the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Number 36/E/KPT/2019, dated December 13, 2019, which is valid until June 2024.

This journal was initiated to disseminate scientific knowledge among academics in gender and child studies, particularly in the relation between normativity and the historicity of the Indonesian archipelago, both from an Islamic perspective and in general. The editors invite experts, researchers, and academics to communicate the results of research or in-depth studies in their respective disciplines. Manuscripts are original and unpublished elsewhere. The editors reserve the right to select and edit submitted manuscripts without compromising the substance of the authors' ideas.

The name PALASTREN derives from a room in a mosque on the north coast of Java, originally intended solely for women's rituals. Adopting PALASTREN as the journal's name is expected to transform the relationship between men and women, creating a balanced role. The journal's position is accessible and usable by anyone, regardless of gender, to achieve a harmonious social order within the family, community, and nation.
