Peer Review Process

  • Every manuscript submitted to Hermeneutik : Jurnal Studi al-Qur’an dan Tafsir undergoes an independent evaluation by at least two reviewers under a double-blind peer review system, in which both reviewers and authors remain anonymous. The final decision (acceptance, revision, or rejection) is made by the editor based on the reviewers’ recommendations. In certain cases, a third reviewer may be assigned for additional evaluation when necessary.

The journal follows a systematic and transparent review workflow as described below:

Step 1: Acknowledgment. Manuscripts are acknowledged within 12–24 hours of submission.

Step 2: Review Assignment. After the initial editorial screening, the anonymized manuscript (with author details removed) is assigned to two expert reviewers in the relevant field. The review process typically takes up to two weeks.

Step 3: Review Feedback. The editor compiles the reviewers’ reports and forwards them to the author(s), including detailed comments, recommendations, and conditions for possible publication.

Step 4: Revision Process. If revisions are required, authors are asked to submit the revised manuscript within seven days. The revised version is re-evaluated by the same reviewers.

    • If the reviewers maintain the same critical assessment, the manuscript is rejected.
    • If the revisions satisfactorily address the feedback, the manuscript proceeds to the acceptance stage.

Step 5: Acceptance and Processing. Once accepted, the manuscript is prepared for publication in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies and formatting standards.

Step 6: Proofreading. The manuscript (in MS Word format) is sent to a proofreader for language polishing and format consistency.

Step 7: Copy Editing. Following proofreading, the manuscript undergoes copy editing to ensure stylistic, grammatical, and typographical accuracy before final author approval.

Step 8: Online Publication. The final version of the article is published online. The corresponding author is notified and provided with a publication link. Authors may request corrections within one week after online release, limited to essential or substantive changes only.
