MENIMBANG WACANA BANK ASI DAN PROBLEMATIKANYA DI INDONESIA

Abstract

The importance of breastfeeding for the baby is not in doubt. Mothers milk contains complete nutrients proven indispensable for newly born baby, supporting the brain development process, and developing immune system for growing child. However, in fact some mother cannot produce enough mothers milk to meet the needs of the baby, whilst some others blessed with abundant mothers milk, sufficient for the baby and even more, this circumstance bring about the discourse on the establishment of mothers milk banking.

The idea of the establishment of mothers milk banking is still a matter of controversy, especially in Muslim world including Indonesia. The establishment of mothers milk bank leaves some theological issues that have not been agreed upon the solutions. In addition, there is also socio-economic issues surrounding the emerging society like in Indonesia.
